Lithography + monotype processes
Print with multiple printmaking processes, created for Intro to Printmaking, SP25
For these prints, I used a combination of methods including pronto plate lithography with digitally printed images, collagraphy with a shaped plate, monotype strategies with rolling a flat and using stencils for text, and chine collé with Japanese paper. I was inspired by the softness and delicacy in the images from the chine-collé techniques I used in the monotype project, so I wanted to iterate on that and try finding the same effect with pronto plate lithography and again with chine-collé. Ultimately, this print reflects my upbringing and how my life and the people around me have shaped my values. Under and around the text, which is central to the print, I chose to print images that represent sources of inner light. These elements compete with the detailed jaws element that surround them, which represents the harsh teeth that you might face throughout your life, but the overwhelming softness of the other elements are far more powerful than the jaws, hopefully in the same way that this relationship occurs in real life.
